A Vietnamese hotel, tour organizer and budget airline are among winners of the 2015 TTG Travel Awards, which were granted on Thursday in Thailand.
Vietjet Air won the “Best Asian Low Cost Carrier” title, while Buffalo Tours was named Vietnam’s Best Travel Agency, and InterContinental Hanoi Westlake hotel was winner of the Best hotel in Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City category.
Vietjet has become the first airline from Vietnam to win this award, which highlights its achievements in providing the best services, the best network and schedules and for being the most agent-friendly airline in terms of reservations and confirmations, the carrier said on Friday.
The airline is also honored for having the most professional sales and marketing team in respect of coming up with innovative ideas, exciting incentive programs and groundbreaking services, it said.
Vietjet is also one of 16 new winners, emerging across various categories, to take home their first ever signature Hermes trophy from the TTG Travel Awards, which have been dominated by long-term winners in previous years, according to the airline.
The annual TTG Travel Awards has been organized by TTG Asia since 1989.
The award winners are decided through the votes of readers of TTG Travel Trade Publishing’s print and online titles TTG Asia such as TTG China, TTG India, TTGmice, TTGassociations, TTG-BTmice China, and TTG Asia Luxury from May to July every year.
These publications’ readers are mainly travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers and travelers. In 2015, the awards honored more than 80 winners in four categories, “Travel Supplier Awards”, “Travel Agency Awards”, “Outstanding Achievement Awards” and Honorary “Travel Hall of Fame”, covering services, products, organizations and individuals across the global travel industry.
Aviation is categorized under “Travel Supplier Awards” with nine awards, consisting of best airlines for the regions of North America, Europe, Middle East, Southeast Asia, North Asia, China, Asia Pacific, Asia and the general region.
“This award is not only tremendous recognition for Vietjet’s operations and services over the past years but it also puts Vietnam’s aviation industry on the regional and global transportation and travel map,” Vietjet price president Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh remarked at the awards ceremony in Bangkok.
In September Vietjet also won the “Gold Award 2015” from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) for its innovative and meaningful marketing campaigns, which have greatly inspired and contributed to tourism development in the Asia-Pacific region
